I follow a Facebook page called “The Holy Nope”. A man posts videos from church/revivals/conferences
that are almost unbelievable. Some are just so silly that I laugh at the absurdity of the preaching. Most,
however, contain serious fallacies up to, and including, outright heresy. From a female pastor in a large
church reading the “gay covenant”, to a guy preaching about his favorite Bible story where Jesus got it
wrong and messed up, to a lady preaching that there is no such thing as a physical sickness…it is always
a demonic possession. And there are so many more. If you are on Facebook, I’d suggest you take a
look at the page.
There are, indeed, a lot of different styles of church services as well as a difference in some
denominational doctrine (that does not involve one’s salvation) that will not lead you far astray from
God’s purpose and plan for a lifestyle. But this guy reveals some wildly inaccurate preaching and
teaching. There are a lot of wing nuts, loonies, and flat out charlatans preying on the vulnerable and
desperate, not to mention those people sincerely searching for the way to God. But they are playing
with fire. “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be
better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the
sea.” (Matthew 18:6 NIV).
Since that passage doesn’t mention hell or eternal punishment I can’t outright say with certainty who is
a believer and who isn’t. But I can identify many areas that unbelievers could misinterpret easily if they
were in a carnal mindset. Some of these supposedly apostles, preachers, prophets, holy men and
women, and religious motivational speakers will find out the true meaning of that “depths of the sea”
thing…and it will not be pleasant.
Say good things about your Savior and about His church on the bluff.
