Common Sense

Dictionary.com defines common sense as: “sound practical judgment that is independent of specialized
knowledge, training, or the like; normal native intelligence”. Common sense is extremely useful in daily
living. However, I heard some say that common sense is a flower that doesn’t grow in everyone’s
garden.
In so many of today’s controversial issues, common sense is being tossed out the window. The two sides
of the issues are then framed as Christian vs non-Christian. When that idea has been planted in people’s
minds, it is then pronounced that Christianity, and thus Christian leaders, are a danger to living a free
and fulfilling life.
For instance, homosexual activity is known by even the non-religious as being unnatural. It does not
work naturally because it will not reproduce, and nature couldn’t succeed. It is an activity that is
contrary to the purpose of nature. I know non-religious people who say that is just common sense to
know that. Yes, indeed, the Bible says that it is an abomination to God (who is responsible for what is
natural). But the fact of the matter is that you don’t have to be a Christian to know that…it’s common
sense.
The transgender lunacy is a little different…but not much. A female with gender transphobia who claims
to be male can physically have a baby. She has all the reproductive organs necessary to become a
parent. So…she can reproduce. Ironically, people with gender dysphoria cannot reproduce once
physical transition has been performed. While the Bible says that people shouldn’t dress as the opposite
sex, common sense tells rational people that it’s just not right or natural.
I believe it to be a fact that the overwhelming majority of non-Christian people understand and believe
that homosexualism and gender dysphoria are neither normal nor productive to society. However,
because they can be chastised, berated, and even fired for voicing their common sense, they are forced
into silence. Therefore, it is mainly Christians whose common sense is bolstered by a spiritual
understanding of God’s nature, design, and purpose who tend to speak out (and we should).
So, stand strong, be courageous, and never forget that if something is contrary to God’s purpose and
character…it is sin.
Say good things about your Savior and His church on this bluff.
