There is a “documentary” entitled “Bad Faith” that purports to show the nation, during this voting year,
that Christians are striving to make America a Christianity-ruled government rather than a democracy. If
you believe what that piece of propaganda says, you will see Christian voters as the most dangerous
group of people that this nation has ever seen. They are honestly claiming that. They’ve coined the
phrase “Christian Nationalism” and show the dangers of a theocracy, claiming that is what the average
Christian desires for our government.
I believe that the overwhelming majority of Christians understand that Jesus was not about politics or
government. Rather, that His teachings about what constitutes Godly living and a Christ-like character,
molded the principles of our founding fathers and thus created a unique nation that celebrated Biblical
directives of freedom and responsibility. When Christians say that we want to make this a Christian
nation again, we are not saying we want a pope or king that allows only a religious legalistic form of
government. We are simply saying that we are tired of nonsensical laws that celebrate and encourage
sexual perversion, demean hard work and personal responsibility, and flaunt the teaching of absurd and
fantastical lifestyles.
In his essay, “How Christianity Shaped Western Civilization”, Dr. Andrew Stebbins wrote: “Christianity
was sociologically pivotal in the development of the West in the sense that it provided the forms of
thought without which those institutions defining the West would likely never have come to fruition.
Those institutions include rule of law, democracy, capitalism, science, education, and the family.” We
celebrate the belief in, and obedience to, the Biblical qualities that made this nation great.
Christians know that Christianity is not a belief that can be forced on a people. It has to be a free and
personal choice. No set of laws can, or will, change that truth. But we also know when our Lord is
mocked, and our values trashed. And we do not like it and will vote accordingly.
Say good things about your Savior and His church on this bluff.
