When I graduated from High School I started working part time at Sears as I went to a community
college. I worked in the hardware department, home of the famed Craftsman tools. All Craftsman tools
had a lifetime warranty. My “sales pitch” to customers was that the tools were guaranteed even against
loss. I’d tell them that if they lost one, just bring it in and we’d replace it.
A friend told me of taking his lawn mower to a man who worked on small engines because it needed a
repair. The man fixed it and charged $25.00. My friend asked if there was a warranty and the man told
him it came with a lifetime warranty. For such a cheap repair that didn’t seem right. But the man
explained that if the mower failed again, just give him call and he’d come to the house and kill him.
Some “lifetime warranties” have drawbacks, don’t they? But there is one that doesn’t. Once you believe
in Christ Jesus, repent of your sin, and ask Him to save you…He does. And He says it is eternal salvation.
That’s a lifetime warranty on steroids! From the moment of salvation, you have eternal life. Some
disagree and say that a person can be lost again, can lose one’s salvation. My thought on that is that if
that were so, the salvation wasn’t eternal. Right?
Of course, not everyone that walks down the isle at church is truly saved. Some come, making an
emotional decision or just making a token decision…not making a commitment, but wanting to see how
it turns out (still a little doubt). That is usually evident in that there is not real change, and they jump
ship at the first sign of trouble or hardship. Not long before they are back, living the old life.
But make no mistake about it, when you are saved, truly saved, eternal life has begun. You are a child of
the King, a co-heir with Christ. Not even Satan, himself, can rip you from the grip of God!!
Say good things about your Savior and His church on this bluff.
